A handling solution is always completed by its endeffector or gripping device. The construction of the gripper will be specially designed and manufactured as required by the workpiece and your suggestions. The gripping devices are mechanically, pneumatically or electrically driven; they work with form closure or friction, vacuum or magnet. We can draw on a lot of realised solutions.
Due to the various forms and natures of the goods to be moved and to the room conditions there are a number of different requirements to the gripping devices.
Often it is not possible to grip paper or aluminium reels, boxes or containers, or similar objects from outside. In such cases we offer mechanic or pneumatic solutions which pick, grip or clamp the workpiece from the inside.
Types of gripping devices:
• Inner tensioning mandrel
• Internal gripper
• Positive load hook
Sometimes material properties, shape and position don’t allow lifting of loads by using gripping pliers or scissor-type grabs. In some of these cases a vacuum gripper is applicable.
Construction of vacuum gripper
The vacuum gripper of IHF-JUNGENTHAL consists of two variable components, vacuum generator and suction pad. They can be combined with different types of handling systems.
To generate vacuum are either pneumatic (air ejector) or electric solutions (pumps or side channel pumps) available.
Suction pads allow a careful handling of workpieces with sensitive surfaces or elastic, flexible sheets.
The right choose depends on the features and the properties of the workpiece. Lifting a plate of wood or a cardboard box is less a question of the weight but much more of the right suction pads. The suction pads can be combined with almost all handling systems. The handling system and the used vacuum technology will be adapted to requirements of the load and the process of handling.
Choose of handling device
Beside the gripper choosing the right handling device is important. To offer a customized solution for almost any task the manipulator is either rotatable mounted on a column or movable at a overhead trolley.
There are several options for lifting. The vacuum gripper can be fitted to a manipulator VECTOR or to a cable balancer VECTOR VS or to another lifting equipment such as chain hoist or vacuum tube lifter. In addition to its own products VECTOR IHF-JUNGENTHAL Handhabungstechnik GmbH offers other lifting equipment.
Beside the vacuum technology a workpiece made of steel can be handled by a magnetic gripper. The magnetic gripper can be mounted a pneumatic manipulator VECTOR or to a pneumatic cable balancer VECTOR VS. If necessary a pneumatic drive allows swivelling the workpiece.
The magnetic gripper will be switched on (gripping) and off (releasing) by electric or pneumatic energy. In case of energy failure the workpiece is securely held.
Magnetic grippers are available in numerous standard dimensions or customer-specific sizes.
Different workpieces, such as hydrants, stators, rail wheels…, require different grippers. The gripper is fitted to a pneumatic manipulator VECTOR or VECTOR linear, to a pneumatic cable balancer VECTOR VS or to another lifting equipment.
External clamping grippers
- are available for nearly all materials,
- with positive or frictionally locking,
- electrically or pneumatically operated,
- with a secure grip of the workpiece in case of energy failure,
- are specifically designed as required by the workpiece.
In many cases a simple gripper is the best solution. Where the shape of the workpiece and the process of handling permit the use of a hook, a fork or a similar simple lifting accessory is reasonable. We design and manufacture such lifting accessories also for demanding tasks.
By the positive, form-fitting gripping of the workpiece no electric or pneumatic energy is necessary. It is easy and mostly intuitive to operate these grippers.
Positive lifting accessories can be used with the electric handling devices IHF-Storomat and IHF-Depomat, with the pneumatic manipulator VECTOR or VECTOR linear, the pneumatic cable balancer VECTOR VS, or with other lifting equipment like chain hoists.
